You have been the greatest gift. Not just in the way all children are gifts, but in how you've opened my eyes to things I never truly understood. Through you, I’ve learned patience, resilience, compassion, empathy, strength, honesty, and so much more.

Has it always been easy? No.

Has it been worth it? Absolutely, without question.

Embracing Change Together

We’ve both had to grow, unlearn, and re-learn. I’ve watched you blossom from a quiet, reserved child into a bold, creative, and fiercely thoughtful person. In those early days, I didn’t fully realise the anxiety that sat just beneath the surface. I thought you were okay. I thought your silence meant peace. I didn’t know yet what it meant to really listen.

Since your diagnosis, and with the support of some truly incredible people, you’ve come into your own. I’ve seen you step into your identity, embrace your creativity, and find your voice. It hasn’t been easy, and I know that. Not just as your mum, but as someone walking beside you, learning from you every day.

Learning Through Connection

I won’t pretend I always knew what to do. I had to do my own emotional work too. Helping you name and understand your emotions meant I had to first understand my own, something I never realised I’d avoided.

You taught me to sit with discomfort. You taught me to slow down. You taught me that connection doesn’t always come in the way the world expects it to.

And for that, I thank you.

I’m so incredibly proud of who you are and who you are becoming. Being on this creative journey with you has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Watching you bring your stories to life and seeing the way you move people with your art and your voice has filled my heart with pride.

Everyone needs a purpose. I’m so glad you’ve found yours. Through your courage and vision, I’ve found mine too.

You truly are a gift. And I wouldn’t have you any other way.
