Zosimos Curra® creator Nat has officially released 5 Cockatoos, a standalone children’s counting rhyme book inspired by Australian wildlife, rhythm, and playful storytelling.

Separate from the Magbean® series, 5 Cockatoos was created as a one-off picture book project designed to encourage early learning through counting, repetition, and rhyme.

The story follows five cheeky cockatoos sitting in a tree before flying away one by one, inviting young readers to count along while enjoying a fun and engaging reading experience.

Inspired by a real-life moment outside Nat’s window, the book combines a love of birds, creativity, and storytelling into a playful adventure for little learners.

Nat, a Canberra-born neurodivergent creator, author, and illustrator, is passionate about turning everyday moments into imaginative stories that encourage curiosity, rhythm, and joy.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the book, Nat shared:

“A moment one morning inspired the entire book. Five cockatoos sat and sang on the tree outside my window before flying away one by one, and the idea for the story appeared almost immediately after.”

5 Cockatoos is now available on Amazon and can be purchased by clicking here.

Readers can also explore the behind-the-scenes story and inspiration behind the book on the Zosimos Curra® story blog.
